Let me first tell you all that ZMOT is a concept about online marketing, and associate with your thinking process when you consider about purchasing any product, be it offline or online (though ZMOT is mainly associated with your online research about any product). The research which you made to decide about the product which you are going to purchase is something associated with ZMOT.

To be very frank, I am not sure if ZMOT is a new term for you or you already aware of it. So let me first start this blog with what is Zero Moment of Truth. Please be aware that this term is related with online marketing concept and it has some real value for it.

Let me first tell you all about two quite common moments of truths:

First Moment of Truth

First Moment of Truth is the moment when a user touches a product for the first time and evaluates it with its packaging, branding, and content written on the packet. It is like thinking about or illustrating an image of the product and associating it with the advertisement which the user saw about this product.

Since this is the first time a user is actually touching the product so this moment is known as first moment of truth.

Experts have the opinion that the FMOT moments are the first 7 seconds when a user sees a product, and it is the time when the brand or the product can actually attract a person.

These 7 seconds are really crucial and normally it is the moment when the user can actually decide about whether they should purchase it or not.

This is the reason why marketers put so much focus on the packaging and branding of the products.

Second Moment of Truth

A good strategy is always required for a good product to establish in the market when it is in regards to the First Moment of Truth is concerned. But it is not always true that if you failed to attract a user in those 7 seconds then there is zero probability that you cannot even attract them.

But you must be thinking that the second moment of truth is the second chance when you can actually attract a user, then let me clarify you that it is not actually true. The Second Moment of Truth is the moment when a user actually uses the product for the first time. The First Moment of Truth is the moment when they saw it for the first time and the Second Moment of Truth is the moment when they actually uses it or tries it for the first time.

These two moments are very crucial for any product. They can actually make place in the heart of their customers by winning these two moments.

Zero Moment of Truth

You might ask me then what is ZMOT or the Zero Moment of Truth then?

Let me tell you that it is the moment when you decide about the product and start researching about it. Obviously these days internet has become the essential part of our life and if you think about purchasing something, you will research about it at net only.

So the presence of companies or products when you research about a product is very much required. You can actually get an upper hand when you have the major presence in ZMOT moment only.

Not all major online marketing companies are well versed about this technique. It is a very critical approach, but honestly if you are actually following SEO or search engine optimization for your website, you are actually targeting customers for ZMOT moment only.

How a Company can Utilize ZMOT?

I guess the simplest way which I told you already are of SEO. When you are doing SEO of website, you are targeting keywords which are relevant to your product or services, and it increases the chances of the presence of your offer when the user first researches about product or services related to you.

So here are a few ways through which a company can conquer the ZMOT moment:

SEO or Search Engine Optimization

SEO or search engine optimization is a process to optimize your website for the search engines, so that you can get visitors through it for relevant keywords or set of keywords. I usually shares so many blogs on SEO which can actually benefits any website be it a blog, or be it a product related company. So explaining SEO for conquering ZMOT moment is not much required over here.

PPC Advertisements

People might argue that what is the point in spending money when someone is only researching about something?

Let me tell you that when someone is researching then it is the time when you can actually affect his decision making and for this your presence is very much required. So through PPC advertisements, like Google Adwords program, or LinkedIn DirectAds programs you can conquer the user when they are researching about any product or services.

I am aware that these advertisements are costly, but for building a brand you need to beer those costs.

Mind it, only displaying your ads is not enough for you to win a customer. You also need to optimize the landing pages as per the needs of the visitor so that the decision making power of the user can be influenced by them quite easily.

Do Blogs

I always emphasized on businesses having blogs. You can also read my blog on why blogging is required for your business and you can understand its importance. So for winning customers in ZMOT level only you must need to focus on doing blogging. It will further help you in the SEO of your website as well.

Social Media Presence

You already know the presence of social media in our life. You need to build your presence on websites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, etc. so that if a person researches about a product or services related to your offered things, your presence should be noticed by them.
