How to Survive the Google Penguin Update?

A few days back, while I was writing about the top 5 qualities which can generate quality content, I mentioned that I will come up with a new blog on Google’s Penguin update. Although I was too busy with so many things on last few days, but still I thought I should write down something on this recent update of Google, which is actually threatening many of the internet marketers and web business owners.

Those who are not aware about Google Penguin update, let me give a brief idea to them first. For those whose business was/is running on the search traffic from the major search engine Google, you must be either aware about the Google Penguin update or you should know about it.

Google Penguin update is a new ranking update by the search engine giant Google, which came into effect on 24th of April 2012. Basically, Penguin update, or the Panda update which came earlier from this, or freshness update, are an effort by Google to rectify the search results, and clear the websites from the SERP which anyways indulge with any unethical activities, or are having no value for quality, and providing no quality to the visitors.

How to Survive the Google Penguin Update?

Basically, I am still remembering the days when I joined the internet marketing era. It was late 2004, when I first came to know about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and since then I saw many changes in the field of web. Frankly, all these changes are an effort by Google to provide the quality results to the visitors. After all, this is why people use to come to Google.

But if you ask me, then I would suggest you all that nothing has changed. Google will never penalty the quality websites. Those who are doing fine with the basics of SEO and having the site created as per the basic webmaster guidelines issued by Google, will never see any downfall in the traffic from the search engine, and will never face any penalty too. These updates are bad for those who are involved with any kind of bad activity to promote their site and to reach to the top of the search engine result page (SERP).

Coming back to Google Penguin update, I have seen some panic in the world of web, once this update came into effect. For me it was not surprising. I have seen a growth in un-knowledgeable guys tackling the websites, and just because they are cheaper, website owners don’t hesitate to hand over their websites to those guys. Do the website owners ever feel how their website reached to the top rankings without providing any quality things related to those particular keywords?

Frankly, I have seen a few website owners who came to me for doing the SEO of their website. When I discussed the charges with them, they told me that particular company is giving us the package of something quarter to your quoted price. Well, I usually don’t ask them to review the quality which I would provide to them, rather I say them, if you are feeling comfortable with them, and then let’s go with them only. They use to prefer the same, and what results at the end they got? Nothing.

Just after this Panda update, four website owners came back to me that their website is out of the results. What was more surprising to them that they can’t even find their own website with the search for the domain name of the website too.  When they came to me, I checked their traffic go down to the level of zero (except a few visits, which might be done by them only) and I said thank you very much, it is great that you people remembered me, but I am sorry, I am not going to work for you.

The same happened after the Penguin update too, many of the site owners whom I know personally lost the ranking of their websites. Frankly speaking, this is showing that people use to do SEO of the website with some unfair means.

Actually this Penguin update penalized the sites which over optimized their website. It also penalized the websites which created excessive links, with no value for content on their own website. Those who tried to fool search engines with the help of deceptive doorway pages, penalized by Google with Penguin update. Those websites too got penalized which preferred lots of keyword stuffing.

Other than these Google also penalized the websites which use to publish lots of meaningless content, just to get the visitors from the search engines. Basically I am happy with this Google update, as it closed the door on the face of those ugly websites which either copied the content written by someone else, or did any sort of wrong work, which basically don’t comply with the Google webmaster SEO guidelines.

Basically my suggestion to all those who got affected due to the Google Penguin updates is to follow the basic guidelines properly, and try to put quality in the content which you are publishing. You can follow the qualities of the good content, which I mentioned in my previous post. Also try not to over use the keywords in your post. Try to post fresh and informative content on your website and it will automatically get the love from the search engines like Google.

That’s all about the Google Penguin update for the moment, hope you will like it. If your website got affected due to this Penguin update then you can also contact me, let’s see what results I can bring for your website. Always remember, you should not think about saving a few bucks, at the coast of losing the complete traffic and ranking of your website. I will write the next blog on the basics of search engine optimization, which can help you to get the most of the work done by yourself only, without needing any help from the SEO experts like me ;) Keep tuning till then.

How to Get Rid of the Slow Internet Browsing!

While I was writing my last post on the top 5 qualities which can generate quality content, I was doing the research before writing it, and then I realized the system on which I was working was too slow. Actually the system was not that much slow, rather the internet browsing was too slow.

Many of my friends too complaint the same that surfing the net on their systems is really bad and they feel that their system is too slow. Actually many of us who uses the internet, feels that their system is too slow, just because their internet browsing is slow.

Sometimes we feel that internet browsing is slow because of the internet service provider. Frankly speaking I realized that I should write down my own experience related to this slowness. Frankly I can tell you all that the slowness of the internet browsing might not be because of the internet service provider, rather it can happen because of many other reasons too like due to the storage of the temporary files on the system and might be due to the toolbars, add-ons, and extensions loaded with your web browser.

How to Get Rid of the Slow Internet Browsing!

Actually while surfing the net we don’t realize that our browsers store some temporary files on our system, which gradually increases with the more website we surf and with time. These temporary files slow down your system and internet browsing with time. Normally what I do to rectify this problem is that whenever I open the system I use to clear all the temporary files stored with my user profile. It helps me to get good speed while surfing the net.

Apart from that I use to do clear history of my browsers on a daily basis too. It helps to clear many temporary files. Actually I use to set the automatic settings which clear the history, once I close the browser. But, many a times I use to do it manually too, so that it does not leave any data on my system, which can increase the load of the system and slow down the net surfing.

Other than the above mentioned stuffs, there is one more thing which harms the internet browsing speed of your system, and it is lots of toolbars, add-ons and extensions installed with your browsers. One day I went to one cyber café for some work and I found that the top portion of the browser was loaded with too many things. Net surfing on that particular system was too bad and that experience was not at all memorable.

Frankly, these toolbars, extensions and add-ons do not only slow down your internet browsing speed, rather they are also a source of malicious attack on your system. Some of the toolbars are too week as far as security of your PC is concerned, and they unknowingly allow malicious software to creep onto your PC.

It is always a threat for your PC. Actually all these toolbars, add-ons and extensions are one kind of software’s which is not that much secure. They actually reduce the display area for web pages on your browser. Other than slowing your browsing speed they also display annoying and unsolicited information too.

Frankly speaking it is my suggestions that do not install any free toolbar offered by many websites, unless you are sure that it is safe and required for your system. Many of the toolbars are used as a hijacker too, which can hijack many important data from your system and harm you too.

That will be all for today my dear friends, I will be back on tomorrow with something more useful and related to blogging tips.

Top 5 Qualities which can Generate Quality Content!

We all are aware about the emphasis on quality content given by some major search engines, especially by Google. We already know that due to Panda Update, the focus of all the internet marketing professionals shifted towards providing useful and informative content on the website.

Frankly speaking, I am a firm supporter of providing quality content to the visitors of a website. Despite of the fact that Panda update realized this to all of us, but I use to follow the same from the very beginning of my career.

For me, it is quite clear, whenever you are planning to develop a website, always go from the visitor’s perspective. Never try to make website considering about the likes or dislikes of the search engines, which many of internet marketing professionals do. Frankly I always try to note down the likes or dislikes of the visitor of the website and accordingly plan the structure and design of the website.

As per my opinion, when visitors of your website will like your website, I am sure search engine will always love you too. Frankly this way we can be able to develop the natural website, the traffic for the same will also grow naturally and the best part is that the traffic of these websites will always remain natural. They won’t get affected by any updates of Google, since we already created the website as per the likes and dislikes of the visitors of the site, so there will be no chance that any search engine will ever penalize you.

I am very much aware about the recent Penguin Update by Google, on which I will definitely write something within a few days, but frankly all these updates are telling us loudly that we should always focus to develop natural websites only. And to deliver the same, quality content is one of the most important factors.

Qualities of Quality Content

Here are some of the factors which will help you to create quality content for your websites:

Value of the Content: The most basic factor of quality content is the value which it provides to the readers. If your piece of content is valuable, then only it can be considered as providing some quality to the visitors. Do remember one thing, as per different search engines, your content should be informative and provide some value to the readers. So if you can be able to create some valuable contents your half the purpose is solved.

Usability of the Content: Be clear that usability of the content always depends on how valuable your piece of content is. Frankly speaking, if your content is valuable to someone then only it’s usable for him. So usability of the content will be the second step towards creating quality content for your website. Try to focus on providing valuable content and it will automatic become usable for someone.

Brand Value: Brand value doesn’t mean that there must be a brand name associated with any piece of content. It clearly does not mean that a piece of content written by a brand name is always better than any other piece of content written on the same topic, by an unknown author. When I am saying the brand value of the content, it means there should always be a brand associated with your website, be it your personal or of some company only, but whenever you are creating content for your website, always thinks about the brand value which it will create about yourself. Frankly speaking if you are creating valuable, useful and informative content, then the purpose of brand building is automatically resolved.

Easily Findable: Now this is something which does not come into play while you create the content. I mean to say you at first need not to worry about this while you were creating the content. But yes, you should plan about the keywords through which user will find your content in advance only. Once you have the keywords ready with you then only you can be able to write valuable and usable content based on the same. Once your write-up is ready, you should revise it to check if it is providing the value for those searched keywords. Once you think Yes, then I am sure search engines will also think the same and provide value to your piece of content for those searched keywords and thus your content will become easily findable by people.

Shareable Content: The last but not the least, and frankly as you all know the importance of social media during these days, so always plan the content in the way that the readers of the same will find it shareable. Well, actually this is something which is dependent on all the above mentioned criteria’s, if your content is informative, valuable and usable, and the reader easily found the same, then I am sure the same user will also think about sharing the same.

Now those who reached to this piece of content please do provide me your feedback about the same. If you really found it valuable, or usable then would you mind to share it too? I will be waiting about your feedback in the form of comment, or you can also tweet me your responses at my tweeter account https://twitter.com/#!/vatsalok

How To Make Sure Your Computer Is Secure!

To many of us, our data, our work and our personal information is sacred. Digital copies of home-movies and photos are treasured and irreplaceable, and just as we lock away our jewellery and legal documents it’s important that we take care of our prized digital possessions as well. The threat of cyber-attack and identity theft grows every day, bringing more and more people into its firing line: but what are you doing to keep your data safe? There are a few simple, easy techniques that you can do to prevent some of the most popular techniques from forcing access to your digital information. Online threats and physical threats differ greatly, but here’s what you can do to prevent somebody with the ability to touch your machine from getting to your stuff.

Encryption

Encryption is always a safe bet and is generally recognised as the best defence home users have against digital intrusion. It comes in many shapes and forms, ranging from full hard-disk encryption to locking single files away from prying eyes. There are a number of terrific encryption utilities available for free, such as TrueCrypt. TrueCrypt is great because it suits advanced and basic needs, it’s open source (so, as a general rule, it’s trustworthy) and can provide better-than-government-grade encryption for no extra cost. Most operating systems come with the ability to encrypt files right from boot, so this might be the most viable option.

Passwords

Often the easiest approach to secure your personal data is by putting passwords on your computer. There are a number of ways of doing this, but perhaps the easiest option is using your operating system’s built-in function to require a password on boot. This deters most would-be data thieves from coming across your files without permission, but a lot of Windows passwords are easily broken without too much trouble. The best technique is to use a combination of passwords and encryption, but if encryption isn’t available try to use two passwords: one at BIOS level and one at boot. By implementing a BIOS password (you can access most computer BIOSs by pressing one of the F- keys at boot) you’ll prevent most physical attacks to your data: your attacker is then required to open up your computer’s case and fiddle around.

Keeping Your Data Elsewhere

If you’ve got really sensitive data, it might make sense to not keep your data on your computer at all. For example, if you’re handling top secret documents and there’s a risk somebody might eventually steal your computer, don’t keep your documents in an obvious place, i.e, on your computer! Computers and laptops are popular with thieves because they can contain information which is later sold on. If at all possible, it might make sense to keep your data offline, on a USB pen or external hard drive that you can then hide or put in a safe somewhere. This then protects you from the risk of somebody taking your machine in the middle of the night.

Ultimately, there’s no definitive way of preventing an attacker getting access to your data: it’s all accessible eventually, it just takes time. If an intruder has physical access to your machine you’re at much greater risk, so it’s always a good idea to protect yourself as best you can with techniques such as these. Software exists which allows you to use promotional USB thumb drives as keys to your computer, which prevent it from booting without them plugged in. Look around, see which technique benefits you most, then get your data locked up.

Turning an Idea into a Living!

Having an idea is one thing, transforming it into reality is another.  I had been sitting on an idea for about three years before fate finally pushed me into doing something about it. I have been passionate about gaming my entire teenage and adult life. I would play games from the minute I got home from school and later work until I went to bed. I read news and reports on games, watch YouTube videos and go after all the achievements I can. Over the last few years I had the urge to start a website dedicated to gaming and try to earn a living from my passion, although I felt this was probably just a dream that would never turn into anything.

Redundancy Gave Me the Push – I Wish I had Done It Sooner

When I was made redundant last summer I found myself with a lot of time on my hands. Jobs were scarce and once the hunt had been completed for the day I was left with nothing left to do but game. This was great for a while but I knew it wasn’t going to get me anywhere. I felt like this was the right time to put my idea to the test and see if I could actually earn money with my natural gaming skill and tap into the market which is on the rise.

The first thing I did was find a name for my website, it’s probably not the most vital place to start but I wanted to get it right. Then I tried to create a site using some free hosting packages, but this is where I felt a bit disappointed. I wanted to have a site which looked amazing from the start. I needed to have all the sugar on tip from social networking inclusion and sharing options to uploading a gallery and even videos. The trouble was when it came to adding and managing plugins on the site I was left clueless. Yes I play games but I am not exactly technologically proficient.

Making a Website is Not Easy

I decided to look into having a site made for me, but once it was running it was important that I could manage it without anyone else’s help. I had a little bit of money I could use from my redundancy, but it wasn’t a lot and the thought of paying someone to manage my site while I wasn’t making any money was just unthinkable.

Thankfully I found out that it was possible to have the site built for me and then I could easily manage it without any assistance. I didn’t need to know how to script or code anything either much to my relief. Once the frame of the site was created I was able to get my hands virtually dirty and discover exactly what I could make of my idea. I began writing up game news, my own gaming experiences and uploading videos of the games I was playing. I have even incorporated my streaming channel into the site now which is incredible.

Careers Can Grow From a Simple Website

Although I am not making a full time wage yet I am finally starting to see some money being generated from the site. I have some advertisements and sponsors on the page, and on my streaming page. I think everyone thought my idea would come to nothing, just a man trying to remain a kid as long as possible, but I am starting to prove them wrong now. The website has been up for a year now and it’s grown so much already.

I’m feeling really positive about the future. My blog has been a big hit and I continue to add my own content several times a day. Even someone without any skills in websites is able to get online and start making money. If you have an idea it’s worth running with it, you never know what could happen.

Using content management systems helps you to create amazing websites and keep it topped up with content.

Things to Look for in a Mobile Application!

The mobile application development market is constantly growing and improving.  It seems that with every passing moment, another developer is building some unique and brand new mobile application to be used by millions on the Android, iPhone and complete arsenal of mobile devices.  As more companies dip their feet into the water, many are discovering the benefits of today’s mobile technologies.  Businesses from all sectors are wondering where the mobile application development industry will be after the next big wave of technological advancement.

Mobile apps are hitting the market faster than anyone could imagine.  Perhaps the only number that is increasing faster than the number of mobile apps is the total number of smartphone users.  Worldwide, smartphone users are vast approaching the one billion mark.  When you consider this staggering number, combined with the fact that the average smartphone features 23 applications and that many users add to that list on a daily basis, it is easy to see why the demand for custom mobile apps is greater than ever before.  To accommodate for this increasing demand, more mobile application development companies are emerging in the industry.

Successful mobile applications have one particular thing in common – they are unique.  Still, it’s easy to see how, despite a massive mobile market, that so many mobile apps are able to find and maintain a desirable level of uniqueness.  Mostly, this is because of the plethora of options available in today’s mobile app development industry.  When it comes to mobile games and programs the possibilities are literally endless.

With so much to consider, what should you look for in a mobile app?

To start, mobile apps should be smooth.  Mobile apps function best when the transition from one section to another goes unnoticed.  Features are important, but keep in mind that mobile apps should be as light as possible.  A fine line exists between boasting powerful features and keeping the mobile app light.  The trick is to tread carefully along that line to provide the best overall user experience.

Mobile apps need to be straight-forward and easy to use.  Avoid cluttering an app with thousands of useless features or options.  Many users have a small touch screen and clutter tends to make mobile apps more difficult to use.

Most people would agree that taking a full-blown version of Photoshop on the road through a mobile device would be something worth trying.  The problem with a scenario like this is that most users would not be able to work with such a feature-rich application on a smartphone.  An app that can do basic manipulating and conversions to prepare files for editing on a large computer would be a much better suited app for a device like a smartphone.

Mobile apps today mostly cater to audio, video, imaging, organizational and games.  Most mobile devices have excellent built-in media players that accommodate audio and video files, although simple apps can make these popular features even better.

The most important element to mobile applications is a useful and beneficial design.  We can’t put every single feature into a mobile application that we wish to include.  We can, however, design apps in a manner which allows us to manipulate files and later export them to a proper computer app for the complete job.

Mobile games are different than most other apps as we don’t use them to manipulate files.  Mostly, games serve the purpose of entertainment and wasting time.  For mobile games, a successful app is generally lightweight, addictive and fun but without skimping on graphics.

New Age Broadband for Switched on Businesses

There are always promises being made about faster broadband rolling out to encompass larger swathes of the business community, but for many firms the reality is that a lot of campaigning and patience is required before telecoms firms acquiesce to your requests for high-speed connectivity.

The good news is that FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) technology is becoming more prevalent across the country and it is good for both those who have to invest in the network infrastructure and the businesses it will benefit.

FTTC is new-age broadband for switched on businesses and it offers a multitude of benefits over traditional DSL and ADSL. It even trumps full FTTP (fibre to the property) connections in several areas, so it should never feel as if it is a technology introduced as a compromise.

FTTC works by running those all-important fibre-optic cables to street-level cabinets. From these cabinets, the broadband signal is then transported over the short remaining distance to your property through a copper landline connection, which you will already have in place.

Because fibre-optic cabling is doing most of the work delivering the signal and sending data in both directions, you will not encounter many of the issues associated with traditional broadband services delivered over a landline connection. That means little or no speed degradation over the length of the line, so real-life download and upload rates will come closer to matching the advertised maximums.

While copper connections are easily trumped by FTTC, the main benefit when compared with full FTTP, which runs cables into each and every property, is lower costs. Because the cabling must be buried underground it can be expensive and time consuming to take the FTTP route. But with FTTC there is far less work that needs to be carried out during installation, which means less investment is needed and there will be reduced disruption in your local area.

FTTC is made even more attractive to telecoms firms and investors because it gives them something new to sell to business buyers, with higher speeds and connectivity available across wider areas being made available with much lower upfront costs.

Of course, this type of technology on its own is not enough to revolutionise the way your enterprise operates. Rather it is the services that are made available through a fast FTTC connection that can really highlight why businesses will benefit from increased speeds.

Few firms will be unaware of the growing rate of cloud-computing adoption across the country and the world. Cloud computing can be integrated into a business in a number of ways, allowing you to outsource all of your data storage and processing requirements while also giving you the option to take a more incremental approach.

The cloud will be largely useless to a company if it is unable to access the broadband infrastructure at a decent speed, but with the roll out of FTTC it will be far easier for businesses to harness the power of the various services on offer.

VoIP is another type of contemporary service which will be better appreciated by businesses with a FTTC connection. Being able to make calls via the web, with advanced routing, recording and analysis as well, will be a real bonus for any company that wants to communicate and grow. But it is only with high-speed broadband that the true potential of VoIP services becomes unlocked.

While FTTC is not the endgame for business broadband, it is certainly the next-generation boost that many companies need to get their foot on the ladder of new, more advanced platforms which might otherwise remain out of their grasp.

Daisy Group plc are a dedicated business to business provider of communication infastructures to Uk Businesses. With a range of networking solutions including Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) SDSL, leased lines ethernet and business broadband packages  providing business users with a choice of solutions designed to meet their individual requirements.
